The Long Island Pilot Project will consist of on-line learning, live presenters
(Al Condeluci, Kathy McCarthy-Proulx, Guy Caruso and others) and video learning, facilitated by Kathy McCarthy-Proulx. Self-advocates, parents and family members residing in the Hudson Valley region, NYC and Long Island are eligible to apply for the program. Click attachment to print application.

Partners in Policymaking is an innovative national model of leadership training for people with developmental disabilities, parents and family members. It is designed to provide state-of-the-art knowledge about issues and policies related to disability, and to develop participant competencies to become more effective in influencing policy development at all levels. The overall intent is to achieve a productive partnership between people with developmental disabilities, parents, and family members, and those in position to make policy.

The Partners in Policymaking program provides an excellent opportunity for participants to improve skills to become more effective advocates and to prepare to assume leadership roles in policymaking.

The Child King DVD
NOW AVAILABLE

This is a full length Christmas movie. The lead actor Peter Johnson is a 17 year old young man from Massachusetts who has Down Syndrome. Peter plays Jeremy West who takes his non-believing 6 year old brother, who does not have a disability, on a journey to find Santa Claus before the family gets removed from Santa's list. All the while Santa follows in a number of disguises and assisted by a few of his trusty elves keeps the boys safe on this three day journey.
