Dr. Thomas Hehir served as the Director of Special Education at the U.S. Department of Education, recently retired as a professor of Practice at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and author of several books including, Effective Inclusive Schools: Designing Successful Schoolwide Programs and New Directions in Special Education: Eliminating Ableism in Policy and Practice. Over the course of his long and influential career in public service, policymaking, teaching, and research, Thomas Hehir has been a unique and vital voice for students with disabilities, their parents, and the educators who serve them.
